1. NaSkeWriMo needs your help

September is National Sketch Writing Month, which means in less than a month, comedy writers around the globe* will endeavor to bang out 30 sketches in 30 days, quality be damned.

This will be the event’s fourth year. In the past it has been loosely run by Michelle Dobrawsky and I (Ben Ragheb), but this year I would like to assemble some volunteers to make the whole thing run a little more smoothly/effectively. For example:

    • Every year we intend to have some kind of party/reading at the end, with varying degrees of success. People who like event planning would be very welcome.
    • We also try to maintain a blog with writing tips, links to fun sketches that have been posted, general cheerleading, and so on. People who would like to write for the blog would be very welcome.
    • Last year I tried making some official merchandise, intending to use any profit to cover the website hosting costs. (I waited until late September, and didn’t sell anything.) Anyone who would like to contribute a design would be very welcome.
    • Given the success of the DCM Mobile project, I’m planning to put the code for the website on GitHub. Anyone who would like to submit improvements would be very welcome.

There are probably other cool things we could do, which I am not imaginative enough to put on that list. The bottom line is, if you can spare some time, we’d really appreciate it. All I’m asking you to do right now is join naskewrimo-org on Google Groups, and we’ll figure out where to go from there. If you have a strong aversion to joining a mailing list, you can contact me through the email link on naskewrimo.org.
